Job Summary

We are looking to add a Scientific Director to take responsibility for the development of designated accounts from an editorial and scientific perspective, playing a key role in the development and/or application of strategy. This will include a direct writing role where appropriate and coaching and/or line management responsibilities for more junior writing staff, depending on assigned accounts, to ensure optimal delivery. Minimal review of materials and coaching/supervision should be necessary

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To undertake the writing/editorial/strategic development of projects on assigned accounts with minimal coaching/supervision required
    • Ensure that communications reflect client requirements and are optimally presented/communicated
    • Review the work of more junior members of the team as required and coach them (working with the EDD/ED as required) with the aim of ensuring that they understand the above requirements and progress towards being able to develop copy to a similar standard
  • To demonstrate a solid understanding of client product(s) and therapy areas, showing an ability to develop and apply strategy and playing a key role in the organic growth of designated accounts on an ongoing basis
  • To contribute to new business activity through proposal development and pitching as required
  • To adhere to Elements’ review and QC processes (and client review processes as required) to ensure quality, accuracy and compliance of written deliverables
  • To develop accurate estimates of editorial time for budgetary purposes
  • To Ensure the completion of the written aspects of projects on time, to the clients brief and within budget, identifying discrepancies and ensuring that the project team are aware of these at the earliest opportunity
  • To proactively manage the editorial workload of designated accounts, alerting your line manager to potential resourcing concerns or freelance requirements in a timely manner
  • To demonstrate excellence in client service, being recognised by the client as a pivotal member of the team, providing editorial, scientific and strategic expertise

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Writing experience >5 years
  • Agency experience >5 years
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience desirable BSc / MSc / PhD or equivalent
